First: Does anyone have any experience developing an app/website for scheduling (example: hotschedules)

Second: I am looking to become a freelance web developer. I already have a good grasp of HTML5 and CSS3 and Im starting JS. I also plan to learn python, PHP, swift, react and vue.

I am currently building my portfolio but I am struggling pretty bad with the design aspect but I know how to code what I need for the most part, so if I could get some advice in this aspect that'd be awesome. Also, what do you all put in your portfolio if you don't have any professional work published?

Can I have some other general or specific tips on how to go about being successful as a web developer?
